The “Womxn’s Choices and Womxn’s Voices” protest, held on June 6, 2022, in Downtown Detroit, was a powerful and deeply unifying demonstration in support of reproductive rights and the autonomy of individuals identifying as womxn. Carefully organized to coincide with the anniversary of our very first protest back in 2020 on Big Beaver Road in Troy, MI, the event successfully brought together a diverse mix of community members, passionate activists, and dedicated allies standing in solidarity. Throughout the day, the collective efforts and generosity of attendees resulted in the collection of over 400 essential feminine products, the securing of 50 meaningful petition signatures aimed at protecting reproductive rights on the Michigan ballot, and impactful collaborations with several influential Metro Detroit organizations. With a strong physical presence that energized the streets and a vibrant virtual following amplifying the message, the event served as an inspiring and significant reminder of the power of collective action and the critical importance of continuing the ongoing fight for bodily autonomy, justice, and equity.
