Detroit Women in Design
Detroit Women in Design is proud to announce its official launch with a powerful four-part initiative dedicated to amplifying, investing in, and celebrating the women driving Detroit’s fashion and design landscape. This thoughtfully curated series begins with ACT I: The Design Lab, a women-only collaborative space at @theetherdetroit (Russell Industrial Center), where photographers, stylists, models, designers, and makeup artists will come together to create high-impact, portfolio-ready visuals. ACT II: The Gallery will showcase selected works from the Lab in a public exhibition at @detroit_shipping, leading into ACT III: The Fashion Show, an immersive, live runway experience celebrating the creativity born in the Lab. Finally, ACT IV: The Scholarship will award five $200 scholarships to emerging women creatives in fashion, styling, or creative direction, along with mentorship from industry professionals. All recipients will be chosen by an all-women panel of judges. Detroit Women in Design is more than a platform—it’s a commitment to building sustainable infrastructure that places women at the center of design, from concept to execution to recognition.

A Weirdo's Show Pt. 2: Halloween
was an immersive two-part celebration of Detroit's underground, new-generation techno scene, crafted to bring the city’s techno legacy to a new audience. J. Leslie and I co-hosted this unique event at Extra Crispy Studios in July, while the Show scheduled during Halloween was hosted by Don Dxego and myself at Stuffed Hub. We curated a lineup featuring four to six rising Ghetto techno high-energy DJ sets, all chosen to capture the eclectic spirit and edge of Detroit’s best-kept musical secret.
In preparation, we offered discounted pre-sale tickets to gauge attendance, allowing us to organize a well-coordinated experience with a bartender and local home baker selling drinks and sweet treats. The night was electric, with each artist delivering an unforgettable performance that had the audience fully engaged and energized. This event showcased the depth of Detroit's techno culture and reinforced Extra Crispy Studios as a central hub for creative expression, leaving attendees eager for the second show, Halloween 2023.

Inspired by the “trunk-or-treat” concept that gained popularity during the COVID-19 pandemic, the event offered a fun, safe, and interactive retail experience rooted in community connection. Eastern Market, known as a hub for local entrepreneurship and culture, provided the perfect setting. The pop-up not only generated $3,000 in sales but also successfully reduced inventory by 50%, illustrating the impact of innovative, experience-driven retail activations in strengthening brand loyalty and increasing revenue.

Aiyanna Lee Virtual Listening Party
Aiyanna Lee, a British vocalist known for her powerhouse vocals and contemporary blend of classic soul and R&B, made waves in the music industry with her collaboration on KSI's track "Killa Killa." Signed to the HITCO label by the legendary L.A. Reid, she showcased her journey with her single "Rich Kids," released on November 5, 2021.
To promote her music and engage with young audiences, I organized a virtual private listening party for Aiyanna Lee in collaboration with Warner Music. This exclusive event brought together notable students from various North Carolina colleges, including representatives from the Student Government Association, Choir, and Band.
The listening party provided an intimate setting for students to connect with Aiyanna, as they experienced her new music firsthand and engaged in a lively discussion about her artistic journey and inspirations. The event not only celebrated Aiyanna's talent but also fostered a sense of community among aspiring artists and music lovers, further strengthening the connection between Warner Music and the next generation of music enthusiasts.

In 2022, I had the honor of serving as host for this impactful event, which showcased over 15 emerging female performers from across the Greater Greensboro area. The festival attracted a sold-out crowd and offered a powerful platform for women in music to share their voices and artistry. “Girls Trap Too” continues to grow in visibility and influence, cementing its reputation as a must-attend event that amplifies female-driven talent and reshapes the local music scene.
